[What's wrong with Nanami... the real question. It's only been a few hours since his conversation with her, and honestly, he's still trying to wrap his mind around what it really means. That she killed someone because she had to, like she was being controlled. That she asked him to stop her if it happens again, if she goes crazy.

But... she hadn't told anyone else, yet, and he isn't going to be the one to say so, either. He's making a much bigger deal out of it than he really should be, honestly, but he's still kind of upset about her situation.]

They're definitely readable, yeah, [he answers Gundam first. He touches his own throat with a finger to indicate the spot, then continues,] Remember the symbol that had been on the door? The one that looked like the Japanese word "mirai?" She said it felt like... like it'd be stitched into her skin, but it doesn't hurt now. She didn't see anyone in the room who could have done it, either.

[Obviously. Especially looking at Gundam's, it's even more clear that there's no way an actual person could have been behind this.]

But Nanami's, you know... [A Pure. Fortunately Fuyuhiko's perched on his head, so he can't see the visible struggle for Hajime to put his feelings into words.] I think... she's having a lot of trouble, here. For various reasons. So... I think we need to keep an eye on her. Make sure she knows we're here for her, you know?

[He's not surprised to hear that she's having trouble at all, though he does feel kind of guilty that he hadn't realize just how bad things already are for her. All he's seen are her fins. Maybe he should try messaging her once they get back, Hinata obviously isn't going to share in more detail what the issue is.]

The Future Foundation symbol, though? That doesn't make any sense, why's her's something like that while Tanaka's is jibberish? I was wondering if his had something to do with the weird marks we found all around the mountain a week ago, but...now I'm not so sure.

[Gundam personally hadn't given it much thought, looking out so closely for her. They were all classmates, so of course he wanted to keep an eye out for them, and some subjects would need more seeing to than others obviously (changes were painful and violent, if they were alone for those who knows what could happen). The idea of putting these feelings out there so that someone knows this fact...well. She's mortal. Mortals need that kind of thing. That wouldn't be too hard...

The symbols though, that's something he can think about easier, address better than anything else.]

...it's a sort of personal rune. It's unclear why they would be that, but it's a possibility that that is the purpose of them. Runes similar to those that I cast every day in my spells, a symbol like that for Nanami...someone could be attempting to curse us. Even considering the methods of which they were left on our bodies is cause for concern. If they were harmless, then leaving them on our flesh would have been equally harmless. Painted, drawn, unnoticed.

I don't know, it doesn't make any sense to me. I thought it had to be a person from the Future Foundation until I saw you had them, too...

[Because while he's absolutely certain that Makoto and his friends weren't bad people, there was still that lingering fear that someday the Future Foundation would make good on their emails and eliminate the remnants of Despair. Why they'd hurt Chiaki, he had no idea, but without any other obvious solutions, that had been the first one he'd considered. Now?]

No, that's wrong. She's not the only one capable of fucking with us. Don't forget, the fourth god's no better. It could just as easily have been him. [Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu: equal opportunity god hater, at your service.] I don't think she's behind the runes, it's too subtle. I always got the impression that when she's fucking with us, we'll know it's her.

[He pauses for a moment, thinking.]

Not only that, but...I'm almost positive she's at least partly responsible for blowing the mountain up. I dunno how good a view you had from Bavan, but the whole thing was covered in fog right before it blew. Which makes sense, if she wasn't the one responsible for those holes. It was only a matter of time before she struck down the one who was responsible for messing with her "toys".

So looking at it that way...if the runes did come from her, and they were a curse, they'd only affect the people who went in the holes, don't you think? As some kind of punishment or...branding. But clearly the holes have nothing to do with it, if both Nanami and Tanaka were affected, and Hinata and I were unaffected.

Either way though, I think trying to figure it all out right this second is pointless. We don't have any evidence, it's all just conjecture at this point. I mean, shit, we don't even know what sort of effect these marks even have yet. For all you know, they could be a blessing instead of a curse.

[But this is Gundam we're talking about, so of course he jumped to curses first...]

No matter who or what caused these markings, or for what reason, it is still doubtful they were a blessing. To have these burned or stitched into flesh...if they were made with benevolence, it should not have been in such manners.

[He'll give you that maybe they aren't curses. But they are definitely not blessings.]

[Ugh a rebuttal! But Hajime just listens to Fuyuhiko, nodding along when appropriate. It makes sense, and he's not afraid to accept when he might be wrong about something.]

Well, these marks appeared after what happened to the mountain, right? If anything, I'd assume it would be her, since the fog appeared around the mountain itself. Like a reminder that these people are hers... or something. Tanaka's got a point about it hurting probably meaning it's a curse, but...

[Hm. HMM. Rests his chin on his hand to think.]

But you're right, it's impossible to tell right now. Like you said, it could be that the rest of us could end up with these "runes" or whatever, given more time. But if it's pointless to try to think about this right now... what do you want to do, Kuzuryuu?

We're just gonna have to keep an eye on 'em and see what happens over the next few days. See if they have any side effects and if Hinata and I wind up with any.

[He sighs. Ugh. waiting. UGGHHH.]

I kinda want to go see if all the weird marks that were on the rocks around the mountain are still here or not. See if maybe it's connected. But...more than that I just want to try and sleep till the sun comes up. I'm fucking exhausted.

[Tonight has been A Night but also he hasn't exactly been sleeping well for weeks now thanks to nightmares and headaches.]

[Well, Gundam can't argue with waiting being the best course of action, no matter what the marks may be. So he doesn't, instead making an agreeable grunt once Fuyuhiko's done speaking.]

Slumber...sounds nice.

[The faerie isn't the only one exhausted from the night's events. He's been ready to pass the fuck out again since he woke up when the two of them arrived.]

[Hajime's still fairly awake thanks to frantically checking on everyone he knows, but he can't deny that getting the chance to just sit down and not do much of anything is pretty appealing. He just lets out a bit of a sigh and gets up to make sure all the bandages and gauze is put away well enough that they won't blow away in the middle of the night.]

I should have brought more blankets, though, if I'd been thinking about it. It's pretty cold out here, still.

[Not as bad as when he'd first arrived here and, considering there's considerably less elevation now than there was, won't be quite that bad ever again, it's still pretty chilly. He'll just take a seat close to Gundam and give his uninjured shoulder a bit of a pat.] We'll get you to a doctor or something first thing in the morning.

Ha, you say that like he'll stay conscious long enough to manage that. Fucker basically hibernates half the day away after he changes back.

An attempt will be made to last that long, but if we must visit a clinic after I return to consciousness, that will be acceptable as well. And...

If either of you find yourself chilled to the bone, you may seek shelter against me. The thick fur tends to keep me well insulated, meaning I should provide adequate heat. And I have already erected barriers to protect you, Hinata. It would do no good to have either of you freeze over night.

[Also he'd feel bad if you guys were cold...]

[When Hajime sits down, Fuyuhiko finally leaves his head, flying instead to Gundam's head and disappearing inside the bear's scarf. Scarf, sweet bed.]

[The reason why Fuyuhiko doesn't need barriers is probably a subject that shouldn't be touched on. At least if you're asking Gundam. The explanation would probably be long and involved and confusing.

But he murrs a little in response, not a full answer but before he can speak he feels a certain faerie looking for a scarf to sleep in. Gonna hold his breath for a second so he doesn't accidentally blow him away or shift and knock him off balance while he's trying to get comfortable. Okay...you good little guy? Yeah you seem to be.]
