[Wow, Gundam. He actually takes promises very seriously!! You don't break promises. There's hell to pay if you do.]
What, like this? [He raises his right hand and double taps his left shoulder with his thumb. He tries to make it a firm tap like Gundam said but it's probably not quite loud enough to achieve what it's supposed to.]
[Kuzuryuu shivers a little at the stirring. That feels so weird on his neck, please don't, Maga-Z...]
Okay...
[But alright...he'll give it another try. This time, he uses his index, middle, and ring fingers all together. Because surely it'll be louder if he just adds more fingers. And taps a little harder.]
[Sorry, he's stirring again! But this time that stirring leads to some curious scurrying, and a little head peeks out of his collar. You rang? Did you need him for something? Do you have a treat maybe?! Curious, kind of excited sniffing!!
Gundam just smiles proudly. Like he's a father who just taught his kid to say "papa" or something.]
[Well at least he moved. It's just the stirring in one place on his neck that's really the weirdest. Especially when that place is his neck.]
[Oh but hey, look! It worked. Though don't look too excited, Maga-Z, he doesn't have anything for you... Well, actually...he supposes he can give you a little head scratch. Is that acceptable?]
[He laughs in a slightly amused "I can't believe that actually worked" sort of way.] What do you know... Is that really all it takes?
Now you see why it is so important to keep such a technique to yourself.
[He drops a hand down to the bench, giving it a few light taps and watching as San-D sniffs the air for a moment before hopping off Kuzuryuu's leg to investigate. She won't be gone for long though.]
It is one of the easiest ways to call creatures such as themselves, though of course it is not the only method they know.
[His are hamsters of many tricks!!! Maga-Z was very excited, but he's not disappointed that all he's getting is a head scratch. Because that is pretty okay and he gladly sits still for it. Though once Kuzuryuu is done he's going to scurry back into the suit scarf.]
[Ack, no! You weren't supposed to go back in there, dammit! Fine. He'll just...pet Cham-P instead then. Since he's the only one still sticking around. What have you been getting up to on his shoulder anyway, big guy?]
So can you just tap anything or does it have to be something they're close to? They didn't do anything when you tapped your shoulder.
[He actually kind of dozed off there. He jumps a tiny bit at the initial petting, but oh hey please continue.]
The closer to them you tap, the better if they cannot see your fingers. They need to be able to hear the sound and on certain surfaces, such as with clothing, that sound can be muffled. Should your fingers be in their line of sight, you can generally lead them with the simple gesture of tapping alone as well, even if it does not make a sound.
If they are further away from you, such as across the room, other techniques should be employed to be sure they will come to you.
[Hello San-D. Hamdad is glad to see you and is giving you a copious amount of pets and gentle finger scratching while you are here.]

The space in front of your collar. Tap there three times with your finger or thumb. Make sure it is a firm enough tap to make a sound.
[To demonstrate, he uses his thumb to tap on his own shoulder, so Kuzuryuu can see how to do it.]

Close. It needs to be loud enough that he can hear it, however. You need a firmer tap to achieve that.
