Corn snakes are of the constrictor family. While they do still possess a painful bite, they do not carry any venom. They are also one of the most docile breeds of serpents, not likely to bite in the first place unless grossly mishandled or mistreated. Allow me introduce you to them.
[Just coaxing the white one out are you ready to hold a snake, Fuyuhiko?
Gundam wonders if now would be a good time to bring up the idea of getting a bigger place to live from the magic horse guy...the topic has technically already come up, right?]
no subject
Well, yeah, I know that. I mean...you kept that bird you found in the park for a while. I just... dunno, I wouldn't have guessed you'd go for snakes next. [...] Though, in retrospect, maybe it should have been more obvious...
[SNAKE EYE DREAM...]
[But, okay...no??? He is not ready to hold a snake??? Just like that??? He's fine with an introduction but don't just shove a snake in his hands till he's had time to process all this. He doesn't know the first thing about handling a snake.]
no subject
But still, he holds the snake out, the little reptile curling around his hand and fingers and watching Fuyuhiko curiously. Come on man, hold the snake. Or pet its head at least.]
I considered purchasing a parakeet or a pair of budgies, but a bird would be much more problematic for this set up. That said, once the living situation currently in planning is achieved, those will most certainly be obtained.
As for the snakes, this is Kiyohime, and her companion is Ryuujin.
no subject
[He'll hold a finger out though and maybe kind of pet her head a little, but he's still not sold on this whole holding thing. Especially not when she looks even smaller and more fragile outside of Gundam's scarf. Probably not the sort of animal an amateur should be handling.]
Interesting na-- wait what? [REWIND FOR A SECOND THERE.] What do you mean "living situation currently in planning"?
[WHAT ELSE AREN'T YOU TELLING HIM, DICKWAD?]
no subject
Kehehe...since our running out in the fog, an ingenious plot has carefully been in the works on amending this problem before it causes us any sort of permanent damage.
[Or he manages to do something else to get them kicked out.]
It has been said that this "horse god" is capable of granting entire living quarters to those who ask. I intend to wish for a grand castle for us to inhabit. Where we shall be the rulers, and none can banish us simply because of the day of the month. With such a home, there will be more than enough space for us, for beastly companions, and anything else we desire to keep. Fuahahahaha! Tell me this is not a brilliant plan! I dare you!
no subject
...a castle.
[Well he's not exactly telling Gundam it isn't brilliant, but...he's also giving the breeder a pretty deadpan look and repeating the word incredulously. Really? Are you kidding him? Snake pets have also been suspended until further notice. Gotta address this issue first.]
no subject
[Honestly what were you expecting Fuyuhiko? Gundam.
Tanaka Gundam.
Where else would he want to live?]
no subject
[...]
[...actually. There is some merit to that suggestion. He opens his eye again, removing his hand from his nose and adopting a more contemplating expression. True, it's kind of pretentious, but a castle would offer them some protection against external threats. Maybe not from other monsters, but human hunters might have some issues with an outer wall.]
[Not only that, but with that much space, they could bring their classmates together (and any more that might show up later) instead of being scattered all over the city. They could even offer temporary lodging to newbies...]
What...kind of castle did you have in mind?
no subject
Allow me to show you!
[He moves over to his bed, crouching down to pull a sketchbook out from under it. When did he get that? It's being flipped through, until he finds the page he's looking for, and he offers it to Fuyuhiko.
According to his sketches, it's a pretty standard looking European style castle. Probably something you'd see a villain staying in, with a high tower, protective walls, surrounded by a lake with a bridge for access.]
no subject
[Instead, he takes a look at the drawing when it's offered to him. Yup. This is about what he expected.]
I see you've given this some thought...any reason you decided to go with something so western?
[Is this Sonia influence at work?]
no subject
There are a handful of reasons. For one, such a castle would seem to fit in well for the period and culture this realm seems to be based in. Western castles are also far more well known for these sorts of high towers, which make perfect roosts for fiends who dominate the skies. [Like, eventually, himself.]
It also carries a terrifying and ominous air about it, a perfect fortress for dastardly abominations like myself and imposing figures like you.
[There could also, possibly, be Sonia influence in here, somewhere.]
no subject
Since when do you go for the option that "fits in"? This horse bastard can make anything we want, right? Why's it matter if it fits in with this shithole?
[Okay, sure, standing out draws attention but you know what, we're talking about a castle here. It already stands out. MAY AS WELL GO WHOLE HOG.]
no subject
...what would you do instead?
[Okay, Fuyuhiko, you have his interest.]
no subject
[His first thought being something similar to his own home back in Japan: a very large, traditional style estate.]
So I'd go with something Japanese. You know, like Osaka castle or something. With modern comforts on the inside, of course. [...] Well, as modern as this place goes, at least, if our idea of modern isn't doable.
[Because who wants to live in a drafty historically-accurate castle? Not this brat.]
Much classier, in my opinion.
no subject
But hmm...a Japanese style castle? That would certainly be nothing like the buildings in this area. And it'd be pretty comfortable with its familiarity.]
Classier, hm...
[Of course he'd want something classy.]
Osaka castle would be unacceptable as a place of living, but...perhaps a castle like it would work. How would you address its lack of tall, lofty towers?
[Remember that's a thing, friend. He wants something he can fly to and from!]
no subject
[Either you're removing a piece of history or, as is more likely, the piece of history is no longer there to be taken in the first place...]
Okay I know there aren't many castles up where you're from, but haven't you at least seen pictures or something? They've got watchtowers, dumbass. They were originally war fortresses, y'know.
no subject
Of course I have, but how tall do those actually grow to be? There is no point in selling me on a tower that is not tall enough to serve their purpose. A tower, in a place like this, is an excellent point of presence. Flying into or from a tower that does not, literally, tower over the surrounding area is not nearly as intimidating.
no subject
Well luckily, towers don't grow so it can be as tall as you fucking want it to be. I don't see how flying in or out of a tower is all that intimidating, really, but to each his own, I guess.
1/2
How can you not envision such a thing? Knowing that a powerful demon inhabits a castle alone often fills humans with fear! Imagine approaching such a monument! Dread pooling in the pit of your stomach as you encroach upon the castle gates, the darkness of twilight surrounding you, threatening to drown the light held in your trembling hands. You open the gate, cringing as it groans and squeals in opposition of such an action, eyes darting to skies as if expecting the hellion you are hunting to have overheard the complaints of the iron hinges and is now bearing down on you from the skies, and yet you see nothing.
That is until your foot steps hit the cobblestone of the courtyard, at which point you hear a villainous cackle ring through the air. Terror squeezes your very heart as you look up, eyes drawing towards the top of the main keep of the castle, the tallest tower looming high above you, and see a pair of impossibly large wings that surely belong to the hellish bastard you fear launch from the roost! That clawing, gnawing fear crawling up one's spine, scraping against the inside of their ribs, robbing them of their ability to breathe or think or even scream...it is an important atmosphere to obtain for a demon overlord!
no subject
Though...I suppose if you feared such things, your caliber would not be so lofty above the peasants around us.
no subject
...that would be implying we'd leave the gates unlocked so humans can just wander in whenever they damn well please.
[Gundam did...did you really think that was going to be a thing? Hell no. THose gates are staying firmly shut. Maybe they'll even have TWO gates.]
no subject
[Jeez. He's not dumb, he is just trying to give you a good idea of what you should be imagining here okay.]
Truly, a demon descending upon them from above is far more terrifying here. It's a matter of life or death, rather than ascension or damnation.
no subject
Okay and...swooping over a wall off of a five or six story tower isn't menacing enough for you or something? How tall was this [He points to the tower in Gundam's drawing.] supposed to be?
no subject
Eight stories, in the least.
no subject
Six is as high as I'm willing to go. I dunno if I'm going to turn into something with wings and I don't want to climb a whole assload of stairs just to come talk to you.
And I'm sure Nanami and Hinata would say the same. [Since they definitely cannot fly. Well...Hinata can levitate, but still. Think of poor, sleepy Nanami having to climb all those stairs.]
