So eventually he just glances away a little, sheepish.]
I never see a point in reading the menus...I've never been to places with much variety outside of that or dishes such as spicy tofu, which is too hot for me. If they had ramen or something maybe, but...
[But who sells ramen around here?]
no subject
[WHERE IS THAT ASSHOLE HANAMURA WHEN YOU NEED HIM?]
But no, seriously. next time we go out, read the menu instead of just skipping straight to the salads. This place is way different than back home, after all. There might be more options than what you're used to.
no subject
I will take your advice, kyoudai. Next time I will pay more attention. Actually, if burgers like that truly exist, I would be very interested in trying them...
[That sounds??? Super good? Grilled vegetables are delicious if they don't grill them like a meat patty he bets those would be delicious too...]
no subject
Heh, next time then. [Now he can feel less guilty whenever they go to burger joints. Because he always feels kind of bad, since he's always the one eating actual food while Gundam just gets side dishes.] And hey, if you don't like it, you can always go back to salad. At least that seems to be consistent, no matter where you are.
no subject
And don't feel bad about that...that's such a silly thing to feel bad about. He likes salad? They make dinner sized salads you know! And he enjoys side dishes too? Relax brother.]
A relief, that. I'm not entirely sure how I would feel if salads weren't consistent.
[Like that'd be weird...and upsetting. Salads are delicious.]
no subject
I guess that would be a little weird...I mean, it's a pretty basic concept.
1/2
Exactly.
[Sure you can make them more complex, but the basic components are so simple...]
no subject
[Usually when she tried things like wilted salads, or tried to add things that just.............do not..............belong in salads............]
no subject
[He knows Gundam's mom is apparently a terrible cook, but...even he can make something as simple as a salad with no issue! It's not that hard!! How shitty of a cook do you even have to BE...]
no subject
[She was Doing Her Best...]
Once I began yearning for vegetarian options, she became especially worried and would alter nearly everything she made to try and make up for the protein, vitamins and acids I was no longer consuming...
no subject
Wilting a salad? That sounds disgusting, you're telling me that's actually something people make? On purpose?
no subject
[What's the word he's looking for here...]
...bitter mush...makes it rather unappetizing. Combined with adding fruits and other vegetables as well as nuts, seeds, supplements, even things such as honey...
[The look on his face makes it seem like he's reliving this particular food trauma. Do you know how bad that is, Fuyuhiko? A bitter, mushy dish with crunchy or sweet elements, or bitter supplements, or syrup.........he may have shuddered just a little bit there.]
I hesitate to actually try it made by anyone else.
[Like...there are not many things he isn't willing to try but that one thing in particular...]
no subject
[But he can tell that this is clearly a distressing topic for Gundam, so he's not going to keep commenting on that. Please don't have a mental breakdown in the middle of the restaurant, kyoudai. HE'S SORRY HE BROUGHT THIS UP.]
I...see. [Oh god how does he salvage this conversation. How can he shift the topic to something else without it seeming really obvious or awkw-- oh hey, their food is here. He's saved. Since they both have to thank the waitress and get their plates all settled, the conversation will automatically be reset once they start eating! Victory!]
no subject
.......gonna...eat a fry or two first.]
I hope this is an acceptable method of celebrating.
[Here, look, he'll change it for you. Is this okay, kyoudai? It's not exactly a party...you probably had parties growing up, right?]
no subject
Hm? [Oh hey, thank you for changing the subject for him. Fuyuhiko stops before biting into his burger, quirking a brow slightly at the question.] Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't it be?
no subject
I wasn't able to offer you a proper gathering. [It's not said with any remorse or anything, since the were does seem satisfied with it, but still.]
After the ritual you and the others performed in my honor, and compared to what you surely experienced at home, something like this seems as though it might be lacking.
[Not only that, but it's his kyoudai's birthday! Gotta try and make it good...]
no subject
[Remember how he didn't really do anything at all for his birthday last year?]
No matter the occasion, gatherings with my family always end up getting...rowdy. So this is a nice change.
[Speaking of traumatic flashbacks...]
no subject
But Gundam knew about it and had the chance to throw him a party. But if this is good then he's happy. He takes a bite of his salad as the other explains.]
Mmm...and gatherings here tend to be no less rowdy, just likely not in the same manner as your family.
[Gestures at previous gatherings. Gestures to their every day life. Gestures at the people who would be available to attend a party for him. Gestures at the entire reason he decided to go with this instead.]
I'm relieved, in that case.
no subject
......
[He's not so sure that's an accurate statement. GESTURES TO THE CHRISTMAS PARTY. That had some surprisingly Kuzuryuuian elements to it.]
Haaa...yeah, I guess you have a point. [He takes another bite of burger. Hey, let's not go any further down this road, shall we?] But yeah, nothing to worry about.
no subject
I suppose you wouldn't be interested in sharing a few drinks still?
no subject
...depends on what sort of drinks you have in mind.
no subject
[Fuyuhiko honestly. What kind of drinks do you think he's referring to? First of all they're "drinks", second of all what drinks are you uninterested in having? (Other than milk, but Gundam doesn't have a death wish so he'd never suggest that.)]
I do still possess that entire bottle of vodka back at the castle I need to do something with. I doubt any of us are skilled enough to try cooking with it.
[So drinking it seems like the next best course of action?]
Or if that isn't quite to your taste, we could visit an establishment that offers more variety. If you aren't interested, however, that's fine of course.
[But sharing drinks on your birthday seems like something to brothers should do? To him at least.]
no subject
Yeah let's...definitely not cook with that. [Please let's not set the castle on fire? He likes it a lot.] But...maybe some other time. That's something we should do at night, right? I'm still having a little trouble drinking in my new form.
[It's hard to drink with a dog snout when you...uh. Don't want to lap things out of a bowl like a dog.]
no subject
[Of course he's having trouble with that...that cute snoot isn't very good for things that aren't dog-like. He doesn't look put out or anything about it, though maybe there's a tiny hint of disappointment in himself for forgetting about that fact.]
Some other time then, yes. I have that bottle tucked away as well, if you're truly worried about anyone deciding it would be a good idea to use it in their recipes.
[Or use it in other peoples' recipes.....]
no subject
It's no big deal though, nothing to apologize for. I only got that form last month and since it apparently changes every couple of weeks, it's easy enough to forget.
[It cool, bro.]
