When it comes to gym battles...which is more your style? Getting the damn thing over with as fast as possible by exploiting their weakness? Or drawing it out by not taking advantage of their typing handicap?
[Kuzuryuu, your team is hardly the pinnacle of typing diversity you really don't have much room to talk about type handicaps here. You beat Chuck because you were over-leveled, let's not kid ourselves here.]
...This isn't meant to be some deep analytical bullshit of your character or anything like that. I just got my Storm badge and that got me thinking. [...] It...seemed like a good conversation starter.
[He...tried? God, is he ever making an attempt at socializing. It's just not a very good one. Especially with this long pause he seems to have gotten himself stuck in now. Did he forget what he was going to say? No, he just kind of got off-script from how he'd initially planned this post to go and now he's not sure how to end it.]
Look, just... oh what the hell, fuck it. [He sighs in frustration, snapping back to his usual, irritable self. He was trying not to be obvious about the contest thing but FUCK IT.] The name's Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu. That's western order but let's keep it to family names, yeah? [Do not be fooled by the question mark at the end of that sentence. It is not a question; it's a statement, and his tone makes that abundantly clear. You are not on the (very short) list of people who are allowed to call him Fuyuhiko.] If we've never talked before, let's do it now. It doesn't even have to be about what I said before. The topic doesn't matter; I don't fucking care what it is, as long as it's not something stupid. Don't waste my goddamn time.
[WELL THAT SURE WENT DOWNHILL FASTER THAN A ROLLER SKATER ON CYCLING ROAD. People will be absolutely lining up to talk to you, Kuzuryuu. Well done. You will most assuredly beat Nanami now.]

[Barring a classmate that genuinely wants him to become a social creature, but no plan is perfect.]
Normal-types. A lot of them are also birds, so Cianwood wasn't too bad, but I get the feeling the Rock-type Gym will be interesting to challenge.
[She TRIED giving him a (really low and completely reasonable) quota, but he just wasn't having that. So she had to change her approach. Though he's pretty sure that she'll leave him alone about it regardless of whether or not he wins, so long as he tried.]
Normal types, huh? That's actually not a bad type to attempt something like that with. You've got normal types that aren't part flying, right? That should even the odds for you. Though now that you've mentioned it... Are there any flying types that aren't fucking dual typed?
[And not likely to lead to more discussions, which he imagines is the point.]
I've got plenty of single-typed ones, along with the Normal/Water, Normal/Grass and Normal/Psychic lines. Plus all of those that can learn Surf, which includes a lot more species than you'd think. As for the Flying-types, there's... There's... Huh. I can't recall any at all.
[For Kuzuryuu, the point is to get Nanami off his back. So...he's completely missing the actual point here, yes. Or rather, choosing to ignore the point.]
More species than I'd think? You mean it's not just water types?
[And aren't those all lovely mental images? Just add some green to the Bouffalant's afro, a few crushed berries to the Snorlax' chin...]
[In any case, if the look on his face is anything to go by, he's definitely trying to picture this in his mind and it's going about as well as you would think.]
What the fuck. You're shittin' me, right?
[He sounds both greatly amused, and completely unashamed of his amusement.]
[What the fuck, Pokémon. What the everloving fuck is this.]
Robots I...guess make sense. A robot flying isn't so surprising but...a clay robot?
[Rocket, therefore robot. In his mind, if nowhere else.]
[The more he hears, the more likely Nanami's theory becomes.]
What are the other theories?
[A beat.]
It's not. It's really, really not.
