[Well it also probably doesn't help that she only has Peko's view of things. Kuzuryuu has never wanted Peko to be his tool. So it's not even a matter of not wanting it anymore, from his perspective, considering he's never seen her that way.]

I haven't talked to her about it so I'm not sure if she is or not. She's not really big on parties and crowds though, so my initial guess would be no. But she had fun at Cyke's sleepover so...possibly? You'd have to ask her though.

[ Sorry Saber just...expects men to be chivalrous, and it seems like a proper thing to ask?! And maybe she could see herself asking Peko herself. She's a former King, who was married to a woman, the idea isn't as strange to her as it might be to others. ]

[Okay, while he has a little more chivalry than you'd expect of a yakuza, that was absolutely something he did not plan on doing. And maybe the delay in response is indicative of that. Because that question sure made him a little uncomfortable. While he was no means going to avoid talking about the ball with Peko if it came up in casual conversation, there was no way he was going to ask her to go with him. Especially not in the way "accompany you" seems to suggest.]

[God, he is so glad this is text instead of a call or a video. More time to formulate a response (so much backspace went into this response, you don't even know) and it's easier to cover up your feelings.]

No, I don't. If I do end up going, it won't be with a date. I'll probably just go with the rest of my classmates, Peko included. Assuming they're all going.

[And even if he DID want to go with a date, that date certainly would not be Peko. Their relationship is already complicated enough as it is without adding even a vaguely romantic aspect to it. Too bad he doesn't know that this element already exists on the other side of the equation.]

[ Saber doesn't mean to get involved, she just can't help but expecting certain things from people. And she's already pretty unsure of how she feels about the idea of her friend being under the thumb of a criminal. So she's waiting for Kuzuryuu to prove that he as chivalrous as Peko promised he is!! ]

[ Hm, where had she gotten that idea... Either way, she understands. She's currently trying to see if she herself has her own Master's romantic attention. So, ganbare Peko. ]

I think that's "ideally" how it's supposed to go but I'm pretty sure it's fine to go to these sorts of things alone or in groups.

[Or at least he hopes so because now Saber has him feeling a little worried about that. It's not like he knows much about these sorts of gatherings, he's never been to one before. Is it really going to look that weird if he doesn't have a date?? He doesn't want one!!]

[ If that's what he wants to do she has no reason to tell him no. It's not like Saber's been to a modern day ball. But despite everything even Saber is a little interested in accompanying someone there as a date. She just isn't sure who to ask. ]

I admit I am interested in meeting the man who Peko respects so highly.

[Meanwhile Kuzuryuu is kind of a strange teenage boy and has next to no interest in romance at all. Hence "ideally" as opposed to just ideally. He doesn't see why people make such a big deal out of having a date for things like this. Or having a date in general.]

It means a lot to me to know she's made friends here. So I'd like to meet as many of you as I can. And she spoke highly of your skill the one time she mentioned you. So I guess you could say the respect thing is mutual.

[As in he wants to meet people Peko respects who aren't him. So far, most of her friends have kind of been...goofballs.]

You care much for her. Even if I cannot turn a blind eye to your business, I can begin to trust that you are the man she said she is. But I will need to meet you in person before I can truly trust you.

[No he sure didn't and he's not really sure what to say to that. Because it really kind of rubs him the wrong way...in more ways than one. Because what does "cannot turn a blind eye to your business" mean? Does that mean she just can't abide by it or is she going to try and stick her nose in? And, yeah, he's pretty sure he never asked her to trust him. He doesn't really care if she does or not...]

[But he doesn't want to offend Peko's friends...what if they stop liking her because of him or something? So he really has to watch his words here. Once again, he's thankful for texting and it's handy backspace feature.]

Peko's the most important person alive to me. Of course I care about her.

[Apparently he couldn't figure out anything nice to say regarding the rest of that so he decided to just not say anything at all about it. Surely that was the right way to handle this.]
