What did you have in mind? Since you've had more time to think on it than I have.
no subject
A promise. That once the Fog God is defeated and we return to our universe...we wake up and this bond remains just as strong there as it has grown here. No matter the state things exist in or what transpires.
[Apparently he isn't done assaulting you with the cheese yet, though he's completely serious as he says this. Even if there's just the slightest of color in his cheeks.]
no subject
...I like the sound of that. [Really, he does. It actually gives him this warm, fuzzy feeling to hear Gundam imply that he, not only wants to, but WILL wake up once they're back home. Considering his initial reaction to the coma news...] But...didn't that much go without saying?
no subject
But really, that might have been part of the reason he brought it up. Things have changed a lot since they first arrived, and while initially - no matter what he'd said to Fuyuhiko that night - he still struggled with the idea for a while...things have changed. And he wants his friend to know that. This seemed like a good way to do that without bringing it up completely out of the blue.
Hell though, maybe he should have, because there's a lot he wants to say with it. Like "thank you", for example. But now's not the time.
Right now he's holding his breath a little, giving the smaller man a side glance. Did it go without saying? Of course he wanted to stay his friend afterward, but...to think that Fuyuhiko felt the same way...
He tugs his scarf up over his nose, focusing forward again.]
Ah...is that so?
[Sorry, he's not really sure what to say to that...he's all warm and fuzzy inside, caught off guard by the insinuation behind that statement.]
no subject
[Was this just supposed to be a temporary partnership sort of deal? He sure doesn't want it to be. It took him this long to finally make a friend, after all! Why put an expiration date on that?]
no subject
I believe it would still serve the purpose but if you'd like to use something else...
[Then they can think of something better. That apparently went without saying. But oh hey, this looks like a nice clearing! He comes to a stop, crouching to test the dirt and then standing up and glancing at the sky to see how much of it is visible through the trees...good distractions from the burning in his cheeks, yes.]
no subject
Well, so long as we're both on the same page.
[Fuyuhiko stops at the edge of the clearing, watching Gundam go through his inspection procedure.]
If it'll still work then...I think that's a good one to use. Even if it goes without saying that this bond doesn't end just because we make it back, it's...it's important. It's a strong base.
no subject
If that is how you feel, then that is what we shall use. I believe this is an excellent spot to perform this ritual.
[He points first to the sky.]
There is an optimal amount of star and moonlight filtering through the trees.
[And then he takes the branch and draws a small, simple circle in front of himself in the dirt.]
And the dirt is very giving to my will.
no subject
Alright. So...what now then? How do we...set this up, or whatever?
[What does he need to do, friend, just say the word!]
sdr2 spoilers
First I need to inscribe the ritual circle upon the ground. After that, we will need to lay out and light the candles.
[So for now just sit back and watch him work. He takes the branch and moves to the most open part of the clearing, standing in the middle and using it to start drawing. Man...it's weird doing this. Last time he did this was his execution...ugh no, not the time to have any flashbacks about that.
Man though he is no less speedy now than he was then, even with his claws to deal with. This will be finished in no time flat.]
no subject
How do you do that so fast?
[And how do you draw such perfectly round circles? What the heck, Gundam. That's just not natural.]
no subject
[He can talk while doing it too apparently wow. And it's not just circles. This one's a little more involved, requiring some stars and points and runic lettering too.]
As a demon, such ritualistic practices are important to know and perfect. Though perhaps I have more of a knack for it than most. Back home I am known as the "Sonic Speed Summoner"!
[This proud proclamation is accompanied by a cackle. You're in the presence of a pretty powerful and skilled demon, Fuyuhiko!]
no subject
[...well, okay, truth told, there's still a little exasperation there because come on, Gundam, really? But still. It's mostly fondness.]
Any other titles I should know about, o dark one, or just those two?
no subject
Hmph! I have earned the right to bare many titles in my time on your Earth.
[Alright, circle is done. He carefully steps out of it, avoiding messing up any of the lines, and looks it over. Yes, good. A perfect circle, as always. Nothing out of place, no jagged or imperfect lines, every rune is correct...]
It is something that comes with being a conquering and competing demon in the Netherworld. It's important to hold dominance over the others of the same class as yourself, and one of the best ways to do that is claim titles.
[Look at all this pride. His smirk is cocky and the way he crosses his arms isn't meant to be off putting, but a somewhat arrogant gesture.]
Really, you should feel honored to walk in the presence of such a high ranking demon!
no subject
Oh trust me, I do.
[Though not for the reasons Gundam's thinking. Sorry, he doesn't really care about your made up titles, man. But that doesn't mean he isn't proud to call himself your companion.]
[...most of the time.]
So now what? I'm guessing...the candles go in there somewhere?
no subject
[That's right, you be honored! You have a very powerful and impressive demon as an ally!! But alright, back to the ritual.]
Correct. There are four main points to this circle, marked with distinct symbols. [He points to each one with the stick from where they're standing.] Each of the four main candles must sit in these points. From there, the violet candles will fill the space between them, and then the white candles will be situated on the outside line of the circle.
[Got all that?]
I will handle the main candles, if you are willing to begin setting up the others. I made sure to make a mark for where each candle should rest.
[That way you can help. He points to a small line close to them marked on the outside of the circle.]
no subject
[He picks the bag full of white candles up first and starts walking around the outside edge of the circle. Just put them where the marks are, right? Simple. He's got this. He'll wait till Gundam's done with the colored ones before putting out the purple ones though. He doesn't want to get in the way or chance putting them in the wrong spots or something.]
[Doop, doop, putting out the candles. Really hoping Gundam's going to handle the lighting part, because he's not sure he can handle matches with these fat fingers of his. He'd probably start a forest fire and that would be...bad.]
no subject
Don't worry he's going to handle lighting them! In fact, as Fuyuhiko works he goes to get the violet candles and the matches. He'll wait until the heir is done with the white candles before handing him half of the violet. You place four and he'll place four! How does that sound?
And once those are placed, he crouches down in front of one of the white ones but...doesn't strike a match immediately. He hovers a hand over it instead, looking like he's really concentrating. Come on...light...light you stupid candle...]
no subject
[He wanders back over to Gundam when he's done, watching the demon for a moment as he has a staredown with a candle. He's not doing what he thinks he's doing, is he...?]
Tanaka... maybe you should just use the matches. No offense or anything, but you kinda...overdo it on the fire sometimes. [LIKE THAT TIME YOU NEARLY SET HIM ON FIRE.] What happens if you completely torch the whole candle? You didn't bring any extras, did you?
no subject
These magicks are impossible. It's nothing like how magic worked at home.
[Grumble grumble bitch. Okay, lighting the first candle.]
no subject
[He's not sure what he can actually do to help, honestly, but maybe just being a supportive presence is enough? He can go stand out in the courtyard for a couple of hours with Gundam, if there's even a chance it'll help him.]
no subject
Actually, having another living being to practice with may be the most useful.
[
Target practice. He always gets so frustrated, so having a voice of reason there really would be useful.]Would you please bring the herbs over here while I work on this? We'll need to spread those out over the circle. That is the last step before beginning the ritual, however.
no subject
[You set him on fire again and he's outtie, man. He can do the voice of reason thing though, totally. Don't you worry. He doesn't know shit about magic but you'll be a regular spellcaster in no time, with his help!]
[But alright, herbs, herbs...bringing those over!]
I'm guessing these can't just be spread anywhere, right?
no subject
[Well, any that don't deserve it. Can't promise if they're attacked or something that he won't use their attackers as practice. But Fuyuhiko, at least, will be very safe! Hopefully.]
It is less that and more that they must be placed in a specific order to be most effective in their purpose.
no subject
[Sorry he's so useless at this magic stuff. Your best friend is basically a muggle, Gundam.]
