She is planning on a special gift for one of her friends at the Winter Ball, but would like to keep it a secret.

Peko has only mentioned her once, and that was in passing over a week ago when also introducing him to one Kotarou Katsura, who is more an experience than a person. Suffice it to say, he has a vague sense that he's heard the name attached to this message before but he can't seem to put a finger on where.]

Are you one of Peko's friends? Because if you're not, I have no idea why you would be texting me about this. I don't know anyone named Rin Tohsaka.

As to why I'm not sure if I'm going...I feel a little weird going to a party for someone I don't know. Not a dancer either.

[Well it also probably doesn't help that she only has Peko's view of things. Kuzuryuu has never wanted Peko to be his tool. So it's not even a matter of not wanting it anymore, from his perspective, considering he's never seen her that way.]

I haven't talked to her about it so I'm not sure if she is or not. She's not really big on parties and crowds though, so my initial guess would be no. But she had fun at Cyke's sleepover so...possibly? You'd have to ask her though.

[ There is much Peko and Saber haven't shared about their respective pasts, but that is only to be expected given what they have gone through... ]

[Okay, while he has a little more chivalry than you'd expect of a yakuza, that was absolutely something he did not plan on doing. And maybe the delay in response is indicative of that. Because that question sure made him a little uncomfortable. While he was no means going to avoid talking about the ball with Peko if it came up in casual conversation, there was no way he was going to ask her to go with him. Especially not in the way "accompany you" seems to suggest.]

No, I don't. If I do end up going, it won't be with a date. I'll probably just go with the rest of my classmates, Peko included. Assuming they're all going.

[And even if he DID want to go with a date, that date certainly would not be Peko. Their relationship is already complicated enough as it is without adding even a vaguely romantic aspect to it. Too bad he doesn't know that this element already exists on the other side of the equation.]

[ Saber doesn't mean to get involved, she just can't help but expecting certain things from people. And she's already pretty unsure of how she feels about the idea of her friend being under the thumb of a criminal. So she's waiting for Kuzuryuu to prove that he as chivalrous as Peko promised he is!! ]

I think that's "ideally" how it's supposed to go but I'm pretty sure it's fine to go to these sorts of things alone or in groups.

[No he sure didn't and he's not really sure what to say to that. Because it really kind of rubs him the wrong way...in more ways than one. Because what does "cannot turn a blind eye to your business" mean? Does that mean she just can't abide by it or is she going to try and stick her nose in? And, yeah, he's pretty sure he never asked her to trust him. He doesn't really care if she does or not...]

[But he doesn't want to offend Peko's friends...what if they stop liking her because of him or something? So he really has to watch his words here. Once again, he's thankful for texting and it's handy backspace feature.]

Peko's the most important person alive to me. Of course I care about her.
