Voicemail (Cerealia)
This is Kuzuryuu Fuyuhiko. Obviously, I'm not here right now, so leave a message and maybe I'll get back to you later if it's not something stupid.

Voice; IC 1/2
Alright. Once I've dressed myself I will head over. And I've never had loose leaf, so it does not matter to me either way.
[Not a rich kid like some people.]
Voice; IC 1/2
Oh. Well forget I asked then. See you soon.
[And with that, he'll hang up and go get the water started. Then go throw on a shirt and a pair of pants. Roll his futon up and put it away because he just could not be fucked to do either of those things today.]
Voice; IC 1/2
It doesn't take him much longer to get there either. No detours needed to be taken, and he's explored the district enough now to know at least where the apartment building is. So pretty soon there's a polite knock on the door.]
action; IC 1/2
Just in time, the water's done.
[And with that, he disappears from the doorway and heads over to the kitchen area. Presumably to do something about the boiling water.]
[Kuzuryuu's apartment is, perhaps surprisingly, a little on the small side. Just a studio, furnished and decorated very traditionally. Really the only things of note are a black and gold saké set in the center of a low table (on which there are two empty tea cups and a box presumably full of tea bags), a kamidana set high on one of the walls, and a black memorial cabinet in a far corner near a folding screen with a dragon on it. Three guesses what that's about, and the first two don't count. The whole room smells faintly of incense, though there doesn't seem to be any burning right now.]
Just have a seat at the table, I'll be in there in a second.
action; IC 1/2
He's a very good house guest though, sitting down without touching anything. Resting his coat in his lap. The most offensive thing he might be doing is remaining silent as he waits for his classmate. What a horrible guy, right?]
action; IC 1/2
[Jeez, what an asshole though, yeah. Wow. Just politely sitting there like that. Kuzuryuu reappears fairly quickly, a teakettle in hand. He kneels down on the cushion catty-corner to Gundam and proceeds to fill the two cups. Guests first, of course. Once that's done, he gets back up and takes it back into the kitchen because apparently he didn't think to grab a potholder or something. So it's just going to sit on the stove again. Oh well, gives Gundam time to pick out some tea.]
[It's predominantly oolong and green, though there are a few random other types in there as well. Some jasmine, chamomile...probably more "relaxing" types than one would think Kuzuryuu would have. Though not nearly as many as he likely needs.]
action; IC 1/2
But he is. He's just the worst. Why would you invite him over, Kuzuryuu, he's literally the worst person in the world. So polite. Quietly thanking him as he pours the water like that even what a douchebag.
He's a little surprised by the "relaxing" type teas mixed in there, though he's not going to comment on it. Because yeah, he honestly really probably could use them, so maybe that's why he has them. By the time the heir returns, he already has his tea steeping. He was boring and went with green.]
action; IC 1/2
[No, he's not. That's a lie. He doesn't regret it at all and he'll probably do it again at some point.]
[He returns quickly, taking his seat and fishing out a bag of oolong because he's really not any less boring than Gundam.]
So what were you curious about, exactly?
action; IC 1/2
The breeder is looking down at his own cup though, trying to decide on the answer to that.]
...nothing specific, in the end. I did not get to spend much time with her, so there's hardly any one thing that I would like to know more than anything else. So I believe I would like to hear about her in general. She's so...
[And here he frowns, clearly unsure of exactly how to finish that sentence. She's rude as hell, but it's kind of endearing? What is that exactly. What term does he use there? And is that normal or is he just weird?]
action; IC 1/2
Endearingly forceful? Like you can't help but find yourself drawn to her, despite the fact that you know she's a rude, arrogant, self-absorbed little shit?
action; IC 1/2
[That sums it up nicely.]
action; okay the date keeps throwing me off and making me think every tag is two parts WE LOSIN IT
[...]
...with most people, anyway.
[We all know there were at least two exceptions to that rule. He shakes his head. Nope. Not going to let this conversation take that depressing turn.]
Anyway, I guess something like that is just to be expected of the Super High School Level Little Sister. She really was an amazing girl, no matter how you look at it.
action; FINE BY ME i was having the same problem....
"Little Sister"...?
[He sounds a little surprised by the title. Not because it's not a fitting talent or anything - Gundam wouldn't know, he's never had a little sister - but he sort of figured she'd have a talent within the "yakuza" vein. Especially after she bullied Kuzuryuu so much. Then again, maybe that's what makes her such a good little sister? Bullying her older brother like that?
And everyone else around her apparently. He kind of snorts a little in amusement.]
Is the ability to so easily overpower you part of her talent as well?
action; SO LONG AS I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE...
Th-That's got nothing to do with it. She's just...stronger than me. [There's a bit of hesitance to admitting this. After all, the only reason he's even having this FTE with Gundam is because it's kind of unavoidable thanks to Gundam actually meeting her.] Some say she's the reincarnation of our uncle, the most powerful member of our family ever to exist. And for a while, there was a part of the syndicate that wanted to have her take my place as heir.
action; never having a conversation on 1/2 again tbh
Once again he's frowning a little, trying to decide how to reply to that. It feels like they avoided one depressing turn only to come upon another one they could make, and he's not sure if this one is as easily avoidable. Considering he...managed to steer it in that direction to begin with. Shit, way to go...]
What kept her from doing so?
[Oh well may as well jump in. Obviously she's not the heir, but if part of the syndicate wanted her to be and she really was stronger than him, gotta wonder why he kept the title.
Aside from the whole SHSL talent thing, which maybe had something to do with it?]
action; the whole first part of this month is terrible for it lbr
[He stares down at his tea, tapping the side of the cup a little.]
That's why I know...that wasn't really her the other night. She's always believed in me, even when I was a selfish, jealous asshole who couldn't accept her words. If she thought I was worthless, she would have taken my place or killed me years ago. She easily could have done either.
[CERES u fucked up.]
action; true. at least it's really only the first part. once you get into the 1/20s it's not so bad
Eventually there's a little hum, though it's hard to tell the feeling behind it.]
A miscalculation on CERES' part, then.
[He would say something like, "it sounds like you have a great little sister then," but...anyone could see that Kuzuryuu already felt that way about her.]
Her talent makes a little more sense with that context.
action; soo now i have to make it my goal to send you a 1/20 chain
[He's trying not to fo the whole revenge thing anymore but YOU KNOW. THERE ARE JUST SOME THINGS...]
Heh, it's kind of a weird talent, isn't it? But they weren't wrong to recognize her for it. There'll never be anybody more deserving of that title.
action; i will just one up you with a 1/30 chain!!
Mmm...it is, though that's not quite what I was referring to. I was merely surprised she received a title like that, rather than one drenched with the same questionable undertones as your own. [Meaning something more crime syndicate-y.]
Hope's Peak truly believed anything could be a talent, though...the stranger ones merely made things more interesting.
[Taking a test sip of his tea before adding, quietly:]
It's a shame I'll never have the chance to know her.
action; ki plz. also wow that was supposed to say "see" not "soo" wtf work keyboard
[He's not really offended hearing it described that way because it's...well it's completely true but it's still just kind of funny to hear someone say it like that? Hence why he's just kind of repeating it to himself in an amused whisper, chuffing quietly and shaking his head..]
Yeah...I really wish I could have introduced all of you to her. [...] Though...I guess it's possible some of you met her and just...can't remember.
[Heck, for all they know, some of you were in the same class as her.]
what! and wow yeah wtf keyboard. how did you manage that.
There's a nod in reply at first, sipping again at his tea. And then he sets the cup down, sort of slumping back a little rather than sitting as straight as he had been. That was getting a little uncomfortable and really, did either of them care how good his posture was? Probably not.]
In a place like this, do you believe there's a chance you still could? It's clear they have some data on her, after all. And while we and our fellow classmates may not technically be dead, I have met someone who is.
[So hey...maybe CERES can bring your real sister here sometime? His tone says he's been thinking about this possibility for a little bit now. It's that kind of curious with a slight edge of hope that others might agree with this possibility.]
action; you're just silly. AND I HAVE NO IDEA...
[It's clear from his tone and his expression that this is something he's been thinking about as well. He may not have met anybody who's dead, but given how all this data stuff had been explained, he'd eventually thought of the possibility on his own.]
Because what happens...to somebody who's dead when we finally leave here? Hell, for that matter, what happens to those of us who aren't? Are we gonna remember any of this when it's all said and done? Or is it just going to be like it never happened and we go back to our lives as usual?
[That's something he doesn't really like thinking about. Because if it's the latter, then all of this is...really fucking pointless. And pointless is a very close relative of despair and he REALLY wants to avoid those feelings, thanks.]
For people who are dead though...it doesn't really matter either way. They don't have a future to go back to after this. So bringing them here is...kind of cruel for everybody involved, don't you think? Especially for the dead people themselves.
[During the snowstorm, he hadn't been sure if he was truly allowed to feel happy about seeing her again. He couldn't stop feeling that way, of course. Because it's his sister and he never thought he'd get the chance to see her again. Of course he was going to be happy, even if it was only temporary. But there had been a certain amount of guilt as well. Because wow, that's really kind of selfish of him to hope for that, isn't it? And that guilt only gotten worse, and he's only grown more conflicted in the day since the incident. And his next words carry that conflicted sentiment as well, despite how hard he's trying to sound resolute in the matter.]
I want to see her again, I don't think there will ever be a day that I don't, but...more than that, I want her to rest in peace. She can't do that if she's here.
[He's just going to finally pick up his tea and start drinking it now, his eye isn't glassy, you're seeing things. It's just a dust. He's not about to start crying.]
action;
So at first he doesn't say anything, returning to his own tea instead. He at least gives his classmate an affirmative hum, acknowledging that he'd been listening, but beyond that...he's conflicted. Really, he does agree with the blond. Letting them rest in peace...that's important. A lot more important than what any of them may want, and there's a little stab of guilt when it's pointed out. He sure was thinking of his mother when he'd asked that. Hell, he might just be a little misty eyed himself.
At...the same time though. He knows a handful of students who may as well be dead at this point who might disagree.
When he does speak up, after a few thoughtful drinks of his tea, it's in a very careful tone and he's choosing not to look at the other boy for now.]
Is...that something for us to decide? That it doesn't matter for them? Technically, in the instance you described, it probably seems pointless. But...for them they may disagree.
[That's really not all he wants to talk about, but it seems like the easiest point to start with.]
action;
[And that lack of a choice is crueler in his mind to people who don't have anything to gain from being brought here, assuming CERES is telling the truth about this end of the universe shit.]
If they do end up bringing her here for real, I'm not going to complain about it. Like I said, there's never going to be a day when I don't want to see her again but...I'm not going to hope for it either.
[Okay, that's kind of a lie. He's probably always going to secretly hope for it a little bit. He can't really help it...]
action;
[His tea is once again set down, hands moving to rest in his lap.]
A minor inconvenience at most...then what could it be considered for those who have no where else to be and nothing better to do? You, Hinata and the others...from what I've heard, if this could be considered such a thing at most for you, then it is even less for the dead, correct?
[Don't mind that slightly strained quality to his voice that sort of seeps in the more he talks. You don't hear anything like that.]
You have important things to do. Everyone else, however. There's nothing for them to be stolen away from. And...
[What is he trying to say here...he's got an idea, but the words aren't cooperating.]
Nothing for them to return to. So a reprieve like this...it's pointless. But doesn't that pointlessness also make it harmless in the end?
